Of all the stories my father read to me as a child, this was my favorite. Its endearing story of self-discovery is timeless, and not to mention quite humorous for a six year old boy. It reminds me of a time far less complicated and will thus always hold a special place of affection for me. This was the Catcher in the Rye of my Elementary years. I would highly recommend this to anyone with children looking for quite simply a flat out good story to read them that they will enjoy.

The Breman Town Musicians is a simple story that involves setting goals and team work. It has two things that children love, music and animals. What a combination!

As a 17 year childcare veteran, I highly recommmend this book. Kids today can use all the inspiration they can get. A great way to learn is to read. I read this book to my daughter when she was a child. Now I am getting a new copy for my grand daughter.

Reviewing a book of passenger lists is rather useless. The *audience* for this type of data is limited. It's not a book of general interest. That being said, as someone doing German ancestor research this book and the other books of passenger lists serve a purpose. It's just much easier to start with one of these indexes to point you to which of the many, many rolls of microfilmed passenger manifests contain the information you need.

I find all of Alfie Kohn's books to be thoughtfully, lucidly, and gracefully written; and this one is no exception. He deals here with an important philosophical question--which also has practical ramifications--in a way that makes it both instructive and entertaining. A shot in the arm for those of us who are more and more depressed by the seemingly endless stream of atrocities reported each evening on the news--a non-pollyanna-ish ray of hope!

This book reviews the history of the tiny town in Ohio that I grew up in. New Bremen, Ohio, might not be found on many maps, but Mark Bernstein covered its story from start to present. He starts by introducing the German immigrants who settled the village and continues up to the 1998 MAC Champion Boys Basketball Team. Go Cardinals! The topics covered include a wide range from World War II to the education at New Bremen Local Schools.
